✅ Description:
Laxocon contains Sodium Picosulfate, a locally acting stimulant laxative. After activation by colonic bacteria, it stimulates the mucosa of the large intestine and rectum, resulting in:
- Enhanced colonic peristalsis
- Increased rectal motility and feeling of fullness
- Accumulation of water & electrolytes in the colon
- Soften stool and facilitate bowel evacuation

✔️ Dosage & Administration
Take orally, preferably at night, as the effect appears in 6–8 hours.
Adults:
Constipation: 5–10 mg once daily
Bowel evacuation before investigations: 10 mg with magnesium citrate, given morning and afternoon of the day before the procedure
Children:
1 month–<4 years: 0.25 mg/kg daily (Max: 5 mg)
4–10 years: 2.5–5 mg daily
10 years: 5–10 mg daily
(Doses usually given at night)

- May be taken with or without food
- Take at a fixed time, preferably bedtime
- Do not chew or crush tablets/solution
- Avoid using for >1 week unless advised by a doctor

Diuretics/corticosteroids → may increase risk of electrolyte imbalance
Cardiac glycosides → increased sensitivity due to electrolyte disturbances
Antibiotics → may reduce laxative effect

- Use with caution in children, pregnancy, and lactation
- Prolonged use may lead to dependence or electrolyte imbalance
- Take 2 hours apart from other medications to avoid absorption interference
